Raising a Racquet for Health and Fitness!

AASSTC of Fredericksburg, Virginia

AASSTC of Fredericksburg offers tennis to seniors age 50 and over who want to learn or can play the game of tennis. Beginners and skill players of every level are welcomed. This chapter was formed by Amos & Eula Best in 2007 who moved from Waldorf, Maryland as members of the metro chapter which is the parent organization under the auspice of Alice Lee as the President.

The tennis club members play at Loriella Park in Spotsylvania County in the spring, summer, and fall on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The time varies based on the weather. For winter play the club members are indoors at Mary Washington Tennis Center to play one day a week.

The club has many social activities outside of tennis such as quarterly lunches, annual end of season picnic, trips to other tournaments, bicycle riding, Christmas party, community outreach, and activities sponsored by the parent organization. Our commitment to the community as members is a pledge to be involved. We select a different organization each year to support as volunteers and give donations, such as clothing, food, etc. For example, we contributed to Bragg Hill Family Life Community Center, Hope House, and the Fredericksburg Food Bank, just to name a few.

Also, AASSTC of Fredericksburg sponsors a Children World Team Tennis League for youth 8-17 years of age in the spring and fall of each year.

This league was formed to encourage participates who completed a class from Spotsylvania Park & Rec which is taught by Amos & Eula Best to enhance their tennis skills in a more competitive environment.
