AASSTC JUNIOR ACES

History

During  2003, the members of AASSTC decided to help grow the game of tennis by involving their grandchildren. It was agreed that members would bring their grandchildren to the Fort Lincoln courts each Wednesday during the summer months to involve them in tennis activities. Thus, the summer Granny Clinic was established under the direction of Hubert Robinson. The scope of this inter-generational program grew to include children who attended the adjoining recreation center and those who lived in the surrounding community.  They were all called “Granny Kids."

As the kids grew, they indicated they did not want the name   “Granny Kids” used to describe them. Thus, the name AASSTC Juniors Program was assigned. Later as the program continued to grow, Rebecca Washington began working with the juniors to prepare them for competitive play and the AASSTC Junior Aces evolved. Thanks to the work of all of those previously and presently involved the AASSTC youth program is now a growing junior development program.
